Simon Butterworth is a landscape, architecture and social documentary photographer based in the Scottish Borders.

Simon’s work has appeared in publications around the world including the BBC (TV and print), The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, The Times, The Sunday Times, The Independent, Washington Post, Bloomberg, The Australian, The West Australian, NRC Handelsblad (Netherlands), de Volkskrant (Netherlands), The Herald, The Jewish Chronicle, Daily Mail (Australia), Mail Online, Geo (France), Wired Magazine (UK, Deutsche, Japan & US), Conde Nast Traveler, The Big Issue, Penguin Books, AA Publishing, UK Centre for Hydrology and Ecology and many more. Clients include the BBC, BP, Glenfiddich, Qantas, Lulu Lemon and Paramo Clothing.

Images have been recognised in many competitions including the Sony World Photographic Awards (prizewinner in 2014 and finalist in the Professional Landscape category in 2015). In 2012, Simon was the overall winner in the UK Landscape Photographer of the Year Competition, and First prizewinner in the International Photography Awards 2014.

Simon’s work has been displayed in venues worldwide, including the Royal Academy of Art, Somerset House, and the National Theatre in London. In 2014/15, an exhibition of 26 original prints toured the world as part of a global product launch by Glenfiddich Whisky.
